iPhone repair bill of Rs 15,000 on a cracked phone
A cracked iPhone repair will cost you Rs 15 lakh.
This is the price charged by the company in the latest report by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC).
The NCDRC has published the bill of costs on a crack phone repair bill for India.
The bill has a total price tag of Rs 13.5 lakh.
The NCDTC has received a total of 12,000 complaints about phone repair companies in India, which was the highest number of complaints received in any country.
The NDRC has issued the bill to consumers on April 8, the date on which the country went online for the launch of the Aadhaar eKYC service, and also to a third party service provider to verify the accuracy of the bill.
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) said the bills can be sent to the National Consumers Council (NCC) or other agencies, and are available to anyone, including consumers.
It said a third-party service provider would verify the cost of the repair, and will then submit the details to the NCDCCC.
It also said that if the cost was higher than Rs 15k, the consumer would be charged the remaining amount, but they would be entitled to refund the difference.
The consumer redressal commission is the government agency that enforces consumer redressals.
The commission said it received 2,000 calls from consumers on behalf of the NCC on March 27.
The complaint has not been closed yet.
The agency said it would examine the complaints and issue a report on whether the complaints were substantiated.
A total of 1,000 cases have been registered so far.
The NCC has a section on the Consumer Rights website where consumers can lodge complaints about the repair or any other issue that has arisen with a repair service.
The NCS has been busy in the last few months with a series of consumer rights reports and the NCC is expected to release the latest consumer redressalities report in the first week of April.
The NCC also released a report of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on April 1.
