‘My wife and I will never be able to repair your phone’
Posted August 28, 2018 06:07:03A woman who found herself with a broken phone after being robbed at gunpoint in Mexico is blaming her own husband for the incident.
The owner of a mobile phone repair business in El Paso, Texas, found himself stranded with the phone on August 8 after it was stolen in the area of the town of San Pedro de Macoris.
A witness called police who were able to recover the phone and recover the suspects who fled the scene, but the phone was recovered later that day and returned to the owner, according to a statement released by the owner’s attorney on Monday.
“After the police officer recovered the phone from the scene of the crime, the owner took it to the police station to get it repaired.
The police officer also discovered that the phone had been broken and the battery was dead,” the statement read.
“Upon examination, the phone revealed a broken battery, which resulted in the phone being taken back to the repair shop to be repaired.
It is now in the hands of the owners family.”
Police said they did not identify the owners of the phone but did not release any further details.
They said they recovered the battery from the phone, but it did not provide the date when it was taken from the owner.
The owners attorney, Jose Sanchez, told ABC News that they do not expect the phone to be returned to its owner, but they are working with the owner to have it repaired to ensure it will not be lost.
“We’re hopeful that he will return it to us,” Sanchez said.
“The owner is willing to do that, but we don’t have any guarantees,” Sanchez added.
He said the owners hopes to have the phone repaired in the next week or two.
The phone was stolen from the home of a couple in the El Paso area and the owners’ attorney said the owner had been in a dispute with his wife about the phone.
Sanchez said he is not sure how long the phone will be in the repair business.
