Police in North Carolina say a man shot at police outside a business, and then fled to a nearby residence, where he shot and killed a police officer and wounded a woman.
The incident happened in the office depot in the town of Woodstock.
Officers responded to the call of a man with a gun at the building on Friday evening.
The victim, who is an employee of the company that owns the building, was shot in the leg.
He was taken to a local hospital and later died, police said.
The man had been seen on video exiting the building in a black SUV.
Officers were investigating a possible motive for the shooting.
NBC affiliate WECT reports that police say the suspect fled to the residence in a dark-colored SUV.
No shots were fired.
Police are looking for the man, who they believe has a criminal history.
