— A Tulsa police police officer pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder in the death of a woman who was killed by his car on the night of July 2.
Michael Latham, 26, of Tulsa, admitted that he struck the woman in the back as she lay on the ground, prosecutors said in a court filing.
He said he thought the woman was driving erratically when he slammed his vehicle into the vehicle, prosecutors’ office said.
Latham also acknowledged that he lied to investigators and admitted to intentionally driving into the woman’s car, prosecutors added.
Latham’s attorney, William O’Neal, declined to comment.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office said in its statement that the officers “acted appropriately” in their actions.
Prosecutors said that Latham has been placed on administrative leave.
The Tulsa World reported that Laughlin has been a police officer in Tulsa since 2008.
